Hi! International Whores Day is on Tuesday, June 2, 2026 this year. We are putting on an event to center s*x work within LGTBQ+ liberation, and to connect with the community.
*THE STRPPR CO-OP WILL BE TABLING THE EVENT, AND THE CYBER CLOWN GIRLS SHOW WILL BE LIVE-STREAMING!*
Who/What:
The One Institute, the LGTBQ Center Los Angeles and The ACLU are partnering with Strppr Worker Center to plan and host this day. You and your organization, your allies and friends are invited to attend.
History:
International Whores Day commemorates the 1975 occupation of Saint-Nizier Church in Lyon by sex workers protesting violence and criminalization. Each year it’s observed globally through gatherings, performances, education, art and community events that center sex worker voices and organizing. This year, Tony Valenzuela, Antonia Crane and Kayla Tange have partnered with the One Institute, the LGTBQ Center Los Angeles, and Strppr Worker Center to create an event that intentionally centers s*x workers within PRIDE 2026.
Where:
International Whore’s Day will be at the LGBTQ Center Los Angeles:1125 N. McCadden Place, LA 90038 at The Village. Doors open at 5pm with the resource fair and refreshments. The keynote speaker and panel begins at 6pm sharp in the Renberg Theater followed by a party and ceremony in the courtyard. Parking is in the lot across the street. Ridesharing is encouraged.
This is an open invitation. Please share it with organizations and people who you think would like to learn about s*x worker rights and the intersection of our shared history with the LGBTQ movement. We hope to see you all—to meet, eat and party with you in honor of International Whore’s Day to Kick off Pride 2026. Thank you for the work you do and have always done.
